My Scripture Mate Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

My Scripture Mate does not require an account and does not intentionally collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, microphone data, or advertising identifiers.

The app and backend process the following information to provide the service:

• Search queries you enter, so the backend can return relevant topics and Scripture.
• Scripture submission details you choose to send, including topic, book, chapter, verse range, and optional tags.
• Basic technical request information handled by the hosting provider, such as IP address, request time, and endpoint, for security, debugging, and service operation.
• Notification permission status on your device, handled by iOS or Android.

Saved Scriptures, recent search text, and reminder preferences are stored locally on your device using secure/local app storage. They are not synced to an account.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Return topics and Scripture results.
• Validate submitted Scripture references.
• Queue submitted Scriptures for administrator review before they become public.
• Generate optional search encouragement based on your query and matching Scripture.
• Protect the backend from abuse and troubleshoot production issues.

Third-Party Services

My Scripture Mate uses:

• Render or equivalent hosting for the backend API.
• PostgreSQL for application data.
• OpenAI for semantic search embeddings and optional search encouragement.
• bible-api.com for Scripture reference lookup during submissions and seed operations.
• Expo services for app build/submission workflows and local notification support.

When you use search or submission features, relevant request data may be processed by these providers to operate the feature.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, My Scripture Mate schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder preferences are stored locally. You can disable reminders in the app or through your device settings.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Submitted Scripture references and tags may become public only after administrator approval. Technical logs may be shared with service providers solely to operate, secure, and debug the app.

Data Retention

Local saved Scriptures and reminders remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app. Submitted Scriptures may be retained for moderation history and app content quality. Server logs are retained according to the hosting provider's operational settings.

Children

My Scripture Mate is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can remove it.
